Technical Services Staff
Job Title: Technical Services Staff
Department: Technical Services
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports Directly To: Manager of Technical Services
Location: Country Club Hills, IL
Position Summary:
Individuals perform a variety of professional duties of a technical and often complex nature, relating to code
development and related member and client services.
Technical Services Staff report to a designated manager in Technical Services; individual provides internal
professional and technical support to ICC staff, both within and outside the Technical Services department, and
has frequent telephonic, written, and direct personal contact with members, customers, and the public.
Position Responsibilities:
Assisting members with IECC (International Energy Conservation Code) code interpretations and
related questions
Reviewing construction documents submitted by jurisdictions or design firms for technical review and
reports
Assisting in, and supporting the development of Commentaries and other code-related publications of
ICC
Serving as a technical resource for other ICC departments and functions
Providing support for ICC code development committees
Working with Publications staff to ensure the accuracy of published code documents
Assisting in the development of code change language that is concise, accurate, and consistent with
other code provisions on both an intra- and inter-code basis
Representing ICC at meetings and conferences
Serving on internal and external committees as assigned
Assisting in educational content development, and conducting ICC seminars as an instructor
Performing other technical and administrative duties as assigned
Essential Skills and Education / Experience:
Baccalaureate in architecture, engineering, or science or equivalent required.
Working knowledge of IECC (International Energy Conservation Code)
Current professional licensure/registration (e.g., Structural, Civil, Mechanical, Fire P.E.) preferred.
Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in a building jurisdiction, related professional
association, or company
Ability to demonstrate sound working knowledge of building code development, application, and/or
enforcement
Strong technical writing, communication, and customer service skills
Ability to travel, both locally and nationally.
