Blasch Precision Ceramics, Inc., produces and markets net shape ceramic and refractory components to a wide variety of industrial markets worldwide.  These industries include specialty alloys, non-ferrous metals, chemical/petrochemical processing, power generation, industrial process heating, and mining.

The patented Blasch Process is a unique, proprietary forming method developed to produce net shape and near net shape ceramic parts exhibiting very attractive physical properties.  Many of the products produced by Blasch have complex shapes that could not be produced with other existing ceramic technology.  As a result, several patents exist covering Blasch’s unique processes and technology.

Position Overview

The Applications Engineer is responsible for performing applications engineering for new products and market development. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Applications Engineering:
  • Analyze process factors in customer applications to determine the optimal solutions.
  • Perform initial product design, including detailed drawings for proposals.
  • Directly interact with customers on new and existing issues.
  • Perform final product design and detailing, including installation layouts.
  • Make on-site visits, as required, including service calls, installations, information gathering, and trade shows.
  • Create 3D product details for sales and marketing.
  • Author provisional and full patents.
  • Participate in customer problem-solving.
  • Facilitate process-oriented solutions to customer problems.
  • Collaborate within the Technical Business Development (TBD) department, as well as outside of the TBD department (for example Engineering Development Sales), as required in order to enhance project synergy and facilitate successes.
  • Maintain ECO number log.
  1. Tooling and Mold Engineering:
  • Create Mold designs and mold prints. Implementing new design improvements and 3D drawings as required.
  • Assist Tooling Specialist in tool setup.
  1. Process Problem Solving
  • Participate in short-term manufacturing problem solving regarding issues of quality and/or cost.
  • Document solutions to problems.

All other tasks as assigned by the manager.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Science.

0 years experience in an applicable engineering field.

Preferred Education and Experience

Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering

3+ years experience in mechanical design
