
Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assure good engineering practices are provided in the design of all new and existing equipment as well as building systems.
- Active in troubleshooting production problems.
- Versed in PLC programming.
- Manage new equipment installations and startups.
- Design, install and startup equipment modifications.
- Negotiate price and purchase equipment and services as needed.
- Draft Capital Expenditure Requisitions - gather information for justification of capital, obtain cost of capital items.
- Fill out Project item listings.
- Fill out preliminary capital expenditure requisitions.
- Fill out formal capital expenditure requisitions.
- Provide management of the maintenance department as well as outside contractor.
- Assure adequate utilities to provide for the smooth operation of the manufacturing equipment and ancillary systems (i.e. incineration, building heat, etc.).
- Responsible for environmental and health reporting and regulatory requirements.
- Assure divisional compliance to all OSHA standards.
- Must be involved in plant manufacturing improvement efforts. Examples being QCO, press speed and utilization.
- In this described position, you are required to be a member of APC’s Division Leadership Team. The Division Leadership Team has been designated as our Food Safety Team. Members of the Division Leadership Team are responsible to ensure that fundamental food safety practices are adopted and maintained. The Division Leadership Team also ensures that adequate resources are available to achieve food safety objectives and support the development, implementation, maintenance and ongoing improvement of SQF System. The Manufacturing Manager is the designated backup for the Plant Engineer.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
