| About the role and company | Go Sustainable Energy (Go) is hiring full-time or part-time curious engineers with experience and interest in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics. From these core engineering competencies, we develop expertise in energy management, energy using systems, renewable energy, and the electric grid. We are passionate about learning how complex technical systems work so that we can offer accurate, unbiased information to our clients. We are seeking qualified engineers with two to four years experience to join our team in Columbus or Dayton, Ohio. Engineers looking to work out of Cleveland, Ohio will also be considered. Relevant coursework, internships, and project experience will be considered in lieu of work experience. Engineers can work a combination of in office and at home.
The goal of our work is to investigate, measure, and to support our clients’ energy and sustainability initiatives. To be successful, we must invest in our client relationships, and navigate the technical, economic, and cultural influences that create barriers and opportunities with a changing energy system.

| Position Priorities | The Energy Engineer is the backbone of all services performed by Go. The Energy Engineer takes a consultative approach, gathering data, installing logging equipment, creating optimization models of energy systems, and writing feasibility reports for energy projects, while either leading or playing a supporting role on project teams. Energy Engineers also work with clients to present projects to their management. |
| Position Responsibilities | Participate in or lead project teams. Plan, perform, and support onsite data collection, energy audits, and operation assessments. Calculate energy savings for various system or equipment changes using existing calculation tools, original spreadsheets, and/or generally accepted engineering methodologies. Document performance through data collection from customer sources or via installed data logging equipment Evaluate utility billing and usage trends, analyze energy data, and evaluate energy baselines. Conduct Excel or other system- based energy modeling and optimization of industrial systems (refrigeration, compressed air, fans, pumps, etc.) Build and maintain statistical models of whole facility energy use. Compose energy efficiency project reports based on analyses and observations. Commission existing systems or newly installed efficiency projects to maximize energy performance. Perform ASHRAE level II audits as part of larger team. Develop IPMVP-compliant M&V plans and reports. Work with clients on energy efficiency best practices such as developing energy teams, defining performance metrics, and establishing a culture of energy efficiency. Collaborate with co-workers and colleagues on billable projects, internal projects, and working groups. Perform other tasks and responsibilities as requested. |
Requirements
| Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | Required: Engineering degree; Coursework in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and/or energy engineering Strong technical research and report writing skills Preferred: Graduate degree or 2+ years of experience Familiarity with industrial facilities and processes Knowledgeable of HVAC systems and design Experience with measurement and verification of energy-efficiency projects |
